Our Pastor's Message

A recent visitor to Westminster (now a regular attendee) commented on what a "joyful" worship service we had.  I was glad to hear this because we at Westminster have much to be joyful about.

Many of our members enjoy the “family feel” here. Looking around the sanctuary on Sunday morning you’ll see young adults, older adults, and a growing number of young children. We are relational people who sincerely love and care for each other. We are committed to prayer and study and we are active in service, both as the corporate Body of Christ and as individual disciples. We are serious about serving God and we have fun doing it!

Some of the local missions we support include: Council of Churches of the Ozarks, Crosslines (food pantry), Regional Girls’ Shelter, United Ministries in Higher Education (aka “The House” at Missouri State University), and Delaware Elementary School (right next door to the church). Our church calendar is always full of activities and there is plenty of opportunity to serve and be served.

Westminster is a beautiful church – not only the people, but the building as well. The stained glass windows that you see scattered through this website are photos of the actual windows that adorn our sanctuary. We have lots of space, most of which has been updated in the past three years to house our successful Parents’ Day Out and Preschool. We have an 80-plus year history of sponsoring Boy Scout Troop 16, and we host a weekly AA Group, the Ozarks Whittlers and Woodcarvers, and Card Nuts. The building is accessible to the physically challenged.

Of course, no church is perfect. We face challenges and opportunities just as every church does. But there is a vibrant Spirit among us, inspiring us to work with enthusiasm and hope for the future. The Gospel of Christ is “good news” and we are here to share it.

If you are looking for a church home in Springfield, I hope you will visit us on Sunday. Come and be blessed on your journey of faith and life!

Grace and peace,
Ellen Brantley; Pastor
