Frequently
Asked Questions
How Big Is Westminster?
We have approximately 250 members on our active roles. Attendance at Sunday
worship ranges from approximately 80 to 100.
Where Are You Located?
Westminster is located at 1551 E. Portland St., on the corner of Portland
and Delaware in southeast Springfield, 2 blocks north of Sunshine between
Glenstone and National.
What Time Are Services?
Sunday School for children through adults begins at 9:15 a.m. every Sunday
from September through July. Worship follows at 10:30 a.m.
What Do Presbyterians Believe?
Like all protestants, we believe in the living, triune God the father,
Jesus Christ His son, and the Holy Spirit. We know the Old and New Testament
Bible to be the authoritative and inspired Word of God. We practice baptism.
We celebrate communion. We seek to love God and our neighbors. And we
strive to share the Good News among all. Where our beliefs differ from
some denominations is in our adherance to what is commonly known as Reformed
Theology, and to a distinctive form of representational church government
which involves ministers and laity, men and women, as equals. For a brief,
but more thorough explanation, click here.
How Can I Become A Member?
At Westminster, we welcome new members to our congregation three ways:
1) By letter of transfer from another church; 2) By reaffirmation of faith,
and; 3) By confession of faith. For more detailed information, contact
our church office or pastor. New Member classes are held on a regular
basis; we'd love to have you join us.
What About Childcare?
We have a professionally staffed nursery and preschool available during
Sunday School hour and Worship. Childcare is also available during most
church special events.
Is Transportation Available?
We do not operate a "church bus" or van, but transportation to and from
the church IS available to anyone who needs it. Call the church office
at 866-2711 and a church member will be happy to pick you up.
Is Westminster Handicapped-Accessible?
Yes. From our designated, close-in parking spaces to our sanctuary and
